What Are Same-Day Dental Crowns?

Same-day dental crowns have quickly become one of our most popular restorations for their quality and convenience. We use CAD/CAM technology to take digital impressions of your tooth, which are used to create a custom-made dental crown in our office. This allows you to walk into our office with a broken, decayed, or misshapen tooth and walk out with a beautiful, strong smile.

The Benefits of Same-Day Crowns

We offer same-day dental crowns because of their many advantages, including:

Same-Day Vs. Traditional Crowns

When you get a traditional crown, you’re committing to at least 2 appointments. During the first, your decayed or broken tooth in Charlottesville will be prepared, and putty will be placed to get a physical mold of the tooth. This is then sent to a dental lab, where your crown is created. In the meantime, you’ll be given a temporary crown to wear. Once your dental crown has been made, you’ll go in for your second visit. Your dentist will see if the crown fits properly before placing it, but there is a chance that you may need an additional appointment for adjustments.

However, the same-day crown process is much more convenient. You’ll come into our office, where Dr. Lippard will take digital impressions of your smile using CAD/CAM technology. Then, he will create a digital model of your tooth, which is sent to our in-office milling system. Your crown is crafted in our office, which is a process that takes only about 40 minutes. Once complete, Dr. Lippard will place the crown on the affected tooth, and you can walk out of our office with a permanent, beautiful restoration!
